Policy & Advocacy
SkillBuild Colorado’s Policy and Advocacy Plan draws upon work conducted by the Colorado Economic Opportunity and Poverty Reduction Taskforce and the National Skills Coalition, Middle Skills Job Campaign.
We have convened a Skills2Compete Advisory Committee to work with the National Skills Coalition to develop a Middle-Skill Jobs Report for Colorado that will be the basis for educating policymakers and the public about opportunities in middle skill jobs and need to improve the strategic investment of resources for training in these occupations.

The National Skills Coalition (NSC) is a broad-based coalition working toward a vision of an America that grows its economy by investing in its people so that every worker and every industry has the skills to compete and prosper. The NSCengages in organizing, advocacy, and communications to advance state and federal policies that support these goals – policies that are based on the on-the-ground expertise of our members.
The Skills2Compete Advisory Committee has formulated policy recommendations that can form the new administration’s employment and job creation agenda. Examples of how governors can use these recommendations to guide state policy can be found in New Mexico, Michigan, Oregon and Maryland.
